WHEN MAKING SITES -- jan 2005
now that we have 3 formats, s40, s60, s 80, it is best to make the images 170pixels wide. they still look good on s40 even if they have to scroll, and looks good on s80 because it is still big enough.

always make your links 96 in my opinion. they look best on all devices, even non-nokia. only my opinion.

NFC Forum
NFC Forum

With Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled devices, you will make your travel reservations on your PC and download your tickets to your mobile phone or PDA, just by bringing it next to the computer, then you will check in for your trip by touching your handheld device to the departure gate kiosk -- no paper, no printing needed.

The Near Field Communication (NFC) Forum is a non-profit industry association founded by Nokia Corporation, Royal Philips Electronics and Sony Corporation to advance the use of NFC short-range wireless interaction in consumer electronics, mobile devices and PCs. The NFC Forum will promote implementation and standardization of NFC technology to ensure interoperability between devices and services.

Consumers are seeking easier ways to interact with their immediate environment and to enable easy communication between their electronic devices. Delivering convenient wireless connectivity, NFC’s intuitive operation will change the way we interact with technology, ensuring that we can make the most of our environment and reap the full benefits of total connectivity.

The vision of the NFC Forum is to enable users to access content and services in an intuitive way by simply touching smart objects and connecting devices just by holding them next to each other. To bring this vision to life, the NFC Forum invites all interested parties -- companies from mobile communications, consumer electronics, chip manufacturing, computing, media and entertainment, telecom and payment services sectors -- to join the NFC Forum and help further our goals.

THEME STUDIO
how to get the sound into your themes:

EDITING SOUNDS IN THEME STUDIO

1. open a tdf file with notepad.

2. scroll to the end

3. locate the 2 audio element tags (can you see the element tags?)

element name="Ringing Tone Sound" id="SoundRingingTone"
img src="" entity_y="0" image_x="0" stretch="false" angle="0" status="actual" filename="SoundRingingTone_image1.wav" image_y="0" entity_x="0" colourdepth="c16" /

img src="" entity_y="0" image_x="0" stretch="false" angle="0" status="actual" filename="SoundMessageAlert_image1.wav" image_y="0" entity_x="0" colourdepth="c16" /
/element

remember to put the <> around everything.

it is a total of 6 lines before the

4. copy those to the clipboard

5. open the theme tdf you want to put sounds into with notepad or some other nice simple text editor.

6. scroll to the end of that file

7. and paste those 6 lines before the of that file (so this way you tell to the program that
this theme can also have sound definitions).

8. then save the new tdf file.

9. copy those 2 wav files from the Grind II dir to your own theme dir

10. once you have copied the wav files, you can edit them directly with any sound editor.

(no need to use the theme studio if you keep the filenames as they are.)

11. now you can start theme studio again.

12. now the sound selection on the theme is no longer gray

13. you should be able to select the sounds for editing

14. and at least in checkout they come to the theme

amr without sound drop
MIKSOFT web site

The Mobile AMR converter is using Sony Ericsson AMR converter to convert AMR files (Adaptive Multi-Rate Codec, *.amr) to wave files (*.wav) and vice-versa in a user-friendly way. Also, it can save several wave files into one SP file and vice-versa. The program has a very easy-to-use and simple GUI (Graphical User Interface) that helps even the most amateur user. Most of the times, the only data that you must enter are the input file(s) and the output file. The AMR format is used by many mobile phones right now, for sound recordings and for MMS (message with sound, picture and text for view in cell phones) and will be used in future GSM systems (3G). Click here to see some screenshots (ver.1.0).

3gp to raw avi
MIKSOFT web site

The Mobile 3GP converter is using "3GPtoRawAVI" converter to convert 3GP files (3rd Generation Partnership Project, *.3gp) to uncompressed AVI files (*.avi) in a user-friendly way. The 3GP video files must have audio in order to be converted. The program offers two modes, one for single file conversion and a second for multiple files conversion for converting many 3GP files at once. In single file conversion you have the option to convert only the audio, only the video or both. The 3GP file format is being used by the majority of the modern mobile phones that have the ability to capture video. Click here to see some screenshots.
